Dr. Jian Li Selected to WHO Technical Advisory Group on Occupational Burden of Disease Estimation

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently initiated a project on Occupational Burden of Disease Estimation and has set up a Technical Advisory Group. Dr. Jian Li of the UCLA School of Public Health and School of Nursing has been selected to serve on the team.

According to WHO, the Technical Advisory Group on Occupational Burden of Disease Estimation provides independent advice to WHO, including its strategic priorities and plans of action on specific topics relating to burden of disease modelling for occupational health (who.int/groups/technical-advisory-group-on-occupational-burden-of-disease-estimation).

The Technical Advisory Group consists of 8 research experts from around the world. Its members have expertise in several areas including, but not limited to: Burden of disease modelling; Global health; Occupational cancer; Occupational epidemiology; Occupational exposure science; and Occupational medicine.

The objectives of the Technical Advisory Group is to:

  1. Advise WHO on the evidence base and input parameters to create estimates of exposure to occupational risk factors and burden of disease;
  2. Review estimates of exposure to occupational risk factors and burden of disease and provide technical feedback; and
  3. Contribute to the publication and dissemination of estimates of exposure to occupational risk factors and burden of disease.

Congratulations and appreciation to Dr. Li and the rest of the Technical Advisory Group for their contributions to Occupational Health and the estimation for Burden of Disease. To learn more about the project and advisory team, visit who.int/groups/technical-advisory-group-on-occupational-burden-of-disease-estimation.
