Your Budget Should Not Get Between You and Workplace Safety

Buy “Seats” and Use Them As You Want

Times have been tough for businesses, government agencies and non-profits alike.  In the process of trying to survive, many organizations cut training budgets, especially for safety training.

That is not a strategy for long-term success.  If your workforce is not mindful of hazards and prevention strategies, it is a workforce likely to experience:

  • Increased accidents
  • Increased near misses
  • Increased lost-time days
  • Increased damaged equipment
  • Increased Workers Compensation costs
  • Decreased morale

The Advanced Payment Plan allows you to purchase a number of seats for workplace health and safety courses and to use those seats throughout the year in courses ranging from basic to advanced.

Your organization can enter the Plan for as little as $387.  That $387 would entitle you to three “seats” that would normally cost at least $567.   You can, for example:

¨ Send one person to three different 1-day classes

¨ Send three people to the same 1-day course

¨ Send one person to a 3-day course

¨ Send one person to a 2-day course and another person to a 1-day course

You can even split a seat and use it for two 1/2-day courses.
How It Works
The prices below are for one “seat,” that is, one person for one full day (7 – 8 hours).  You select attendees and courses.  Eligible courses are only those offered directly by the Southern California Education and Research Center and do not include courses offered in partnership with OSHA Training Institute or OMI.  One seat may be used for two 1/2 day courses.Tier 1:  3 – 5 seats        $129 per seat
Tier 2:  6-10 seats         $109 per seat
Tier 3:  11-20 seats       $99 per seat
Tier 4:  20+ seats          $79 per seat

If you start off with, for example, the minimum of three seats ($129 x 3 = $387), you may choose up to three 1-day, or 6 half-day, or one 3-day, course or any equivalent combination.  These courses would normally cost between $567 and $747.

If during the year you later decide to add one or two more seats,  they will also be at the Tier 1 price of $129 per seat.

But if you later decide to add three more seats, you will move to Tier 2 and the new seats will all be at the Tier 2 price of $109.

Once you reach a higher Tier level, added seats will never cost more than the Tier you have arrived at, and, if new seats take you to a higher Tier, all new seats in the same batch will be at the lower price.

In order to take advantage of these prices you must:
▪ Pay for the selected number of seats in advance (good for up to one year).
▪ Provide us with the names and contact information of those who intend to register for a particular class by the Early Bird date (approximately 30 days prior to the first day of the class).
▪ Confirm attendance not later than 10 business days prior to first day of class.
▪ Substitutions of attendees may be made without additional charge.
Registrations made after the Early Bird date and/or confirmed after the Confirmation date will be charged the Early Bird rate.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations will be treated as below using credit rather than monetary refunds.   Cancellations must be in writing. Credit schedule:

▪ Cancellation 10 or more business days before the class – 75% credit.

▪ Cancellation 7-9 business days before the class 50% credit.

▪ Cancellation less than 7 days before the class and “no shows” no credit.

For example, if someone cancels between 7-9 days prior to the class, we will use half of the fee to compensate for the cancellation.   The other 50% will be available to be applied towards another class.  If they cancel in less than 7 days or are a no-show, we keep the entire fee as if they attended.

UCLA reserves the right to postpone an offering 7 days prior to the course date should minimum enrollment requirements not be met.
