Safety Management: Beyond OSHA Compliance

OCT 2021 – Although compliance with OSHA Regulations is a requirement and a best business practice, there is more to a safety program than just compliance. This course will explore how to advance a safety and health program including management techniques that show leadership for safety and health programs and how to motivate employees to become involved in the safety and health efforts. The course will also outline better ways to identify hazards, what makes safety and health training most effective and how to evaluate safety and health program success or identify areas requiring improvement. Additionally, we will discuss the best ways to communicate and coordinate safety efforts between host employers, contractors and staffing agencies.

It is mandatory for participants’ videos to be on during class in order to receive a certificate of completion.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Apply best practices for management leadership for effective safety and health programs
  • Practice methods to motivate workers to voluntarily participate in the safety and health program
  • Implement techniques for hazard identification, assessment, prevention and/or control
  • Describe effective safety and health education and training
  • Evaluate the success of a safety and health program

Substitutions may be made without additional charge. Cancellations must be in writing. Refund schedule:

  • Cancellation 15 or more business days before the class 80% of registration fee
  • Cancellation 7-14 business days before the class 50%
  • Cancellation less than 7 days before the class and “no shows” No refund

If course materials such as books have been sent to course participants in advance, the cost of that material will be subtracted from the refund.

UCLA reserves the right to postpone an offering 7 days prior to the course date should minimum enrollment requirements not be met. If a program is canceled, you will be notified and your registration fee will be refunded in full, less the cost of course materials sent in advance if they are not returned in the condition in which they were received. The liability of UCLA is limited to the course fee.
