Course Overview
JULY 2022 – California Employers are more than ever under pressure to ensure the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during this Covid-19 crisis. During this 4 hour webinar, we will help employers and employees reduce exposure by the thorough understanding of Cal/OSHA’s hierarchy of controls along with the proper use of PPE.
Course Overview:
- Introduction to the Cal/OSHA requirements for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- The Cal/OSHA requirements for worksite Hazard Assessments and PPE Certification forms
- Cal/OSHA training requirements for employers and employees
- Effective training techniques
- The different types of PPE:
- Eye and Face Protection
- Head Protection
- Hand Protection
- Foot Protection
- Hearing Protection
- Respiratory Protection
- Body protection including chemical protective clothing
- Manager and an employee quiz
Participants must attend at least 90% of the course and pass a written exam to receive credit towards SCERC Workplace Safety and Health Professional Certificate.
This course is a Core Requirement for the SCERC Workplace Safety and Health Professional Certificate.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Describe the importance of Cal/OSHA’s hierarchy of controls as it relates to personal protective equipment.
- Identify the different types of personal protective equipment utilized in the general industry.
- Explain and apply the California requirements for training employees regarding personal protective equipment.
- Explain the employer’s responsibilities regarding personal protective equipment including California required PPE Certification form and assessment.
- Explain employee responsibilities regarding personal protective equipment.

How it Works:
Attend from the convenience of your desk or laptop. Before each session, you will receive a website link where you will log in to the webinar. Two-hour sessions, 10 am-12:00. Session 1: April 1st and Session 2: April 2nd.

Substitutions may be made without additional charge. Cancellations must be in writing. Refund schedule:
- Cancellation 15 or more business days before the class 80% of the registration fee
- Cancellation 7-14 business days before the class 50%
- Cancellation less than 7 days before the class and “no shows” No refund
If course materials such as books have been sent to course participants in advance, the cost of that material will be subtracted from the refund.
UCLA reserves the right to postpone an offering 7 days prior to the course date should minimum enrollment requirements not be met. If a program is canceled, you will be notified and your registration fee will be refunded in full, less the cost of course materials sent in advance if they are not returned in the condition in which they were received. The liability of UCLA is limited to the course fee.
