Students Present at Colorado Mining Conference on Nanoparticles

 

Industrial Hygiene Program faculty and students attended the 2023 Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration’s 2023 Annual Conference & Expo in Denver, Colorado, co-hosted by the Colorado Mining Association.

 

Industrial Hygiene Deputy Director, Dr. Candace Tsai, joined as Industrial Hygiene trainees, Yi-Hsuan (Amelia) Chen (PhD student) and Dorothy Nguyen (MS student) presented research results on “Size Effects of Nano and Submicron Coal and Rock: Participles and Physico-Chemical Property Characteristics.” Their paper is also being published.

 

The annual Mining Conference is dedicated to all disciplines of mining engineering and included a variety of technical sessions and speakers. The conference was attended by thousands of mining professionals from around the world.

 

Amelia and Dorothy will also present their Nano Coal and Rock research again in May at the American Industrial Hygiene Association Conference and Expo in Phoenix, AZ. They will be joined by more Industrial Hygiene students in presenting their works of research.
